Russian engineers from the city of Tver, 111 miles (180km) from Moscow, have developed a “killer burger” robot. With thick blades made to look like cheese, the robot can be seen in social media footage breaking a fridge apart as its creators show off the machine’s capabilities.

Local news sources were puzzled as to the purpose of the robot, which appears to have been built as a hobby. There is no suggestion that the machine will be used on the battlefield.

The creation is reminiscent of the “Battle Royale With Cheese” robot featured in the television show Battle Bots, the US version of Robot Wars.
