Rishi Sunak is a “Swiftie”, Downing Street suggested on Monday, as the Prime Minister’s spokesman indicated that he shares the public’s love for the music of Taylor Swift.

Mr Sunak was said to have attended a fitness class themed around the American singer’s music during his family summer holiday to California earlier this month.

It was also reported last week that he used a blank space in his itinerary to attend one of Swift’s six concerts on her current Eras tour in Los Angeles.

Asked about whether he was at the gig, Mr Sunak’s official spokesman replied: “I’m just not going to get into what activity the PM did whilst taking a break. I think it’s an important principle to maintain that.”
