Prosecutors in the assassination of Charlie Kirk have revealed text messages that they say prove the suspect admitted to the killing.

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with murder over the fatal shooting of Kirk, the popular conservative activist, at a university in Utah last week.

On Tuesday, prosecutors laid out the formal charges against Mr Robinson and revealed messages sent to his former lover which they claim form part of a confession.

His ‘confession’

Mr Robinson allegedly confessed to the assassination by hiding a note for his transgender lover.

Mr Robinson placed a message under a keyboard at their shared home, saying he planned to “take out Charlie Kirk”, according to a text exchange.

He wrote: “Drop what you are doing, look under my keyboard,” the messages revealed by officials said.

The roommate looked under the keyboard and found a note that stated: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
