Rachel Reeves will hold talks with EU finance ministers in Brussels next week on how to ensure ongoing support for Ukraine.

The Eurogroup meeting is the first a UK chancellor has attended since Brexit and comes as the Government seeks to rebuild ties with the EU.

In particular, the Government hopes to negotiate a UK-EU security and defence pact as part of its post-Brexit “reset” of relations with the bloc.

The focus of Monday’s discussions is set to be how to ensure financial support for Kyiv continues amid fears Donald Trump is set to cut US funding.

The president-elect has vowed to hit EU and UK imports with tariffs of 20 per cent, raising fears of a trade war, and may reduce US support for Ukraine and even Nato.
