Report into BBC chairman Richard Sharp to be published today
BBC chairman Richard Sharp is braced for the publication of a report into his appointment and his involvement in facilitating an £800,000 loan to Boris Johnson.
The findings of an investigation by barrister Adam Heppinstall KC are widely expected to be published this morning.
The Telegraph understands the investigation has concluded Mr Sharp breached the rules in failing to declare his involvement in the loan prior to his appointment.
However, he is said to be reluctant to resign, which would leave it to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to determine his fate.
Mr Sharp was appointed to the role overseeing the broadcaster’s independence in 2021 but he has faced calls to resign after it emerged he helped the then-prime minister arrange the loan.
