Nigel Farage claimed the Red Wall will desert the Tories at the next general election with Rishi Sunak as leader. 

Mr Farage said that with Mr Sunak leading the Conservative Party “the Red Wall is completely and utterly gone”. 

The former leader of the Brexit Party predicted the Tories are “headed for electoral disaster” as he said he believed Sir Simon Clarke was “right” in his warning of a massacre unless Mr Sunak is replaced. 

Mr Farage told GB News that Mr Sunak “doesn’t connect with ordinary people in any way at all”. 

He said: “He just doesn’t do ordinary folk. He can’t mix with them, he can’t speak to them, he can’t connect with them. And with him, the Red Wall is completely and utterly gone.”

The Red Wall refers to dozens of traditionally Labour voting seats in the Midlands and north of England which switched to back the Tories at the 2019 election.
