Only a quarter of voters currently believe the Conservative Party will win the next general election, according to a new poll.
A YouGov survey conducted on May 8 found 11 per cent think the Tories will end up as the largest party, the same number believe Rishi Sunak will lead the Conservatives to a small majority and four per cent said a large majority - 26 per cent backing overall.
Meanwhile, half of voters - 50 per cent - believe Sir Keir Starmer and Labour will win the general election which is widely expected to take place at some point next year.
Some 11 per cent think there will be a large Labour majority, 22 per cent forecast a small Labour majority and 17 per cent said they think Labour will be the largest party.
The numbers came after analysts said last week's local election results suggested Labour is on course to win the general election but that Sir Keir could fall short of an overall majority.
