Boris Johnson said holding a pro-Palestinian rally on Armistice Day would be “obscene”.
Asked if he thought the march, planned for next Saturday, should be cancelled, the former prime minister told GB News during a visit to Israel: “They should remember that Remembrance Sunday is there very largely to commemorate the many, many people in our country, but also across the Commonwealth, who fought against Nazism and fascism.
“And I think for them to go out and demonstrate in favour of an anti-Semitic pogrom - which is what they would be doing - is obscene…”
Asked again if the march should be cancelled, Mr Johnson said: “That is a matter for the police and how they manage it.”
Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, is under growing pressure to ban the rally amid fears the protest could turn violent.
More than 70,000 protesters are expected in the capital on Saturday in the latest round of controversial pro-Palestinian rallies.
