One person has died and two police officers were seriously injured after a knife attack in eastern France.

A suspect, who authorities said was on a terror prevention watchlist, has been arrested in the city of Mulhouse, near the Swiss and German borders, according to local media.

Three more officers were lightly injured in the attack, which occurred during a demonstration, according to the local prosecutor.
