Rail passengers face fresh chaos this week as the train drivers’ union Aslef has announced more strikes over pay disputes. Meanwhile the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has also announced new strikes disrupting the Eurovision final and a fresh six-month mandate, bringing the threat of further industrial action into late autumn. Here is what you need to know.

The strikes will impact thousands of people travelling to the Eurovision final on 13 May in Liverpool.

The final day of industrial action also coincides with the FA Cup final in London, as Manchester United are set to play Manchester City at Wembley on 3 June.

Beyoncé fans planning to see her “Renaissance” world tour concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the same day will be affected too.

The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (Aslef) represents UK train drivers. Workers at 16 train operating companies will be going on strike, while RMT members will also strike on the day of the Eurovision final (Saturday 13 May):
