Five people have been wounded during a stabbing attack in Amsterdam, according to police.

One person is in custody, though at this stage officials said they had “no information about the cause or motive”. 

Police said they had erected a cordon around the area the stabbing took place, near the central Dam Square.

There was no immediate information on the condition of those wounded.
