The US Central Command (Centcom) forces on Thursday conducted seven “self-defence” strikes against Houthi targets, the US military said.
Four Houthi unmanned surface vessels and seven mobile anti-ship cruise missiles were targeted, as they were prepared to be launched against ships in the Red Sea, according to military officials.
Centcom posted on X, formerly Twitter: “CENTCOM identified these missiles and USVs in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined they presented an imminent threat to U.S. Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region.
“These actions will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US Navy and merchant vessels.”
