Rudy Guede, the murderer of Meredith Kercher, is to face trial for the alleged sexual assault of his former girlfriend in Italy.
Guede served 13 years in prison for the 2007 murder of the British student from Surrey after her body was found in her bedroom in the Italian university town of Perugia.
Amanda Knox, an American undergraduate, and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were initially convicted but ultimately acquitted of the fatal stabbing.
Guede, 38, who is originally from the Ivory Coast but came to Italy as a child, was released in November 2021.
He began a relationship with a 25-year-old woman after his early release for good behaviour.
The woman, who is from Viterbo, central Italy, reported him for assault, mistreatment and sexual violence in 2023.
In December of that year, he was given a restraining order and fitted with an electronic tag.
A judge in Viterbo in the region of Lazio, where Guede lives, ordered him to stay at least 500 metres away from his former girlfriend.
