Mark Hamill was among the Hollywood celebrities forced to evacuate their homes as wildfires ripped through one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

More than 30,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes as high winds continue to drive flames across Southern California.

One of the most-affected neighbourhoods is the coastal Pacific Palisades, home to celebrities such as Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg. It is unclear whether they were in the homes when the blaze spread.

Ben Affleck also has a property in Pacific Palisades where he has been reportedly been living since his split from Jennifer Lopez. It is unclear whether his home is in the path of the fire.

Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, called the blaze the “most horrific fire” since 1993 and said he had been bundled out of his home in a “last-minute” evacuation as small fires on both sides of his road.
