A man confessed to killing his parents and burying them in their garden during a television interview.

Lorenz Kraus, 53, said he had suffocated his father, Franz Kraus, with his hand and strangled his mother, Theresia Kraus, with a rope in 2017.

Mr Kraus was arrested by police following the interview with local news station WRGB over the weekend.

He has since been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of concealment of a human corpse.

Mr Kraus has pleaded not guilty.

In an extraordinary interview, Mr Kraus said the deaths of his ageing parents were “mercy killings”.
