Lee Anderson has insisted he will stand at the next general election but said whether that will be as a Tory candidate is “out of my hands”.
The former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party lost the Tory whip after failing to apologise for claiming “Islamists” had “got control” of Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.
His remarks ignited a political firestorm as his critics accused him of Islamophobia.
Asked if he will be standing for the Conservatives at the next election, Mr Anderson told GB News: “That’s not up to me, that’s out of my hands at the moment, but I will be standing at the next election.”
