Lammy targeted by pro-Palestine protesters

The Foreign Secretary has been targeted by pro-Palestine protesters at his home in north London.

Two female activists from Youth Demand laid child-sized body bags at David Lammy’s doorstep and displayed a sign over his hedge which read “Lammy Stop Arming Genocide”.

Mr Lammy, 52, the MP for Tottenham, was not at home when activists Cristy North, 37, and Sue Houseman carried out the protest at 11am on Tuesday.

He has joined the King and Queen on a royal visit to Rome, where he attended a ceremonial welcome at the Quirinale Palace on Tuesday morning.

Mr Lammy and the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment.

The Government’s current position is that Israel’s actions in Gaza are at clear risk of breaching international humanitarian law.

Last month, Mr Lammy was forced to backtrack over his accusation in the Commons that Israel committed a “breach of international law” by withholding aid to Gaza.

He later admitted he “could have been a little clearer” and reiterated the Government’s position.

In January, he was heckled by pro-Palestinian protesters who stormed a conference stage to demand he call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict.

However, this appears to be the first time that activists have targeted his house.
