Labubu heist sees $7,000 worth of dolls stolen

Thieves ransacked a Los Angeles shop, stealing thousands of dollars worth of Labubu dolls, the highly sought after plush toys fans are queuing for hours to get their hands on.

A gang broke into One Stop Sales in La Puente, and stole $7,000 worth of Labubus during a heist on Wednesday morning.

Joanna Avendano, co-owner of the resale store, said the thieves bypassed cash and electrical goods to specifically target the Labubus.

Labubu dolls, designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and sold through Beijing firm Pop Mart, come in “blind boxes” so the buyer does not know which variety of doll they have until they open it.

The cuddly, sharp-toothed monster toys are released in limited runs, driving up the price of some of the rarer versions into the thousands.
