Stella Creasy, Labour candidate, has had the windows of her office smashed and the words “Labour child bombing liars” graffitied on the pavement outside.

The former MP for Walthamstow in northeast London, said she would not be intimidated and those responsible “do not belong in the political process”.

The Metropolitan Police is investigating and Ms Creasy said voters in the constituency would “not be cowed or influenced by violence”.

It is understood that a hammer was used to break the windows and the same individual then scrawled graffiti, reading: “F--- your weasel words this is genocide. Labour child bombing Liars. 2001, 2003, 2024.”

Posting pictures of the damage on social media, Ms Creasy said: “Message to whoever attacked my office last night. You don’t intimidate me and you don’t belong in the political process. Same as those circulating malicious and false leaflets.

“Police already on this to find you – will press for the strongest penalties for such an anti-democratic attack and I know Walthamstow won’t be cowed or influenced by your violence either.”

Scotland Yard confirmed an investigation has been launched into criminal damage caused to a “political candidate’s office in Orford Road, Walthamstow”.

Det Supt Dion Brown said: “It is entirely unacceptable for the office of one of London’s prospective parliamentary candidates to be targeted in this way.

“An urgent investigation is underway, and officers have attended the scene and are already following up active lines of enquiry, which will include full analysis of all available CCTV footage.

“The incident is believed to have occurred between 3.01am and 3:30am on Sunday, June 23. I urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact police and share what they know.”

In February, Ms Creasy said the abuse she has faced as an MP, including threats of rape and death and a brick through her office window, were indicative of a serious threat to democracy.

“Unless we take responsibility for addressing this, the outcome will not simply be that the loudest voices and largest wallets win: democracy will lose,” she wrote in The Guardian.

She said that harassment of political representatives was increasingly normalised.

Ms Creasy, who has been MP for Walthamstow since 2010, voted in Parliament for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war in November.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer had ordered his party to abstain on the SNP motion and instead back one calling for humanitarian pauses.

Ms Creasey said at the time: “However distant it may seem now, we must continue to reaffirm and strengthen those voices calling for peace – one that can only be achieved by a two-state solution which seeks a free Palestine and a safe Israel.”

In January, Mike Freer, a Conservative MP, said he would not be standing for re-election following death threats because of his pro-Israel views.

The 63-year-old said he had been subject to a decade of intimidation, culminating in a suspected arson attack on his constituency office in December.
