An MP suspended by Labour after accusing Israel of genocide in a post about Holocaust Memorial Day is set to have the whip restored within days.
Kate Osamor was suspended by the party in January following a backlash to her “amoral” and “offensive” remarks from Jewish leaders.
But the MP for Edmonton is now set to be welcomed back into the Labour fold after party chiefs completed an investigation into her remarks, the Independent reported.
In a newsletter to constituents on Jan 26, Ms Osamor described Holocaust Memorial Day as “an international day to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of other people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and now Gaza”.
She went on to issue an apology for “any offence caused” by her comments, which were heavily criticised by the Jewish Leadership Council.
