Conservationists in Kenya have undertaken the country’s largest-ever rhino relocation effort as they begin transporting 21 of the endangered animals to a new home. 

Members of the Kenya Wildlife Service capture team will move the rhinos to Loisaba Conservancy in a bid to control population size and poaching at other over-congested parks around the country.

A previous relocation attempt by the African nation ended in disaster in 2018 when all 11 animals died. 

Ten rhinos succumbed to stress, dehydration and starvation-related illnesses shortly after arriving at the sanctuary, while one was attacked by a lion.
