Karen Read has been found not guilty of murdering her police officer boyfriend.
Ms Read, 45, had been accused of killing John O’Keefe in 2022 near Boston, Massachusetts, with prosecutors claiming she hit him with her car and left him to die during a blizzard.
The defence claimed she had been framed by police, who dropped O’Keefe off at a party at the home of a fellow officer, where they allege he was beaten and then thrown outside to die.
Ms Read, who faced charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter and leaving the scene outside Boston, would have faced life in prison if found guilty of the murder charge,
She has been found guilty of a lesser charge of drunk driving.
The jury deliberated for around 21 hours for more than four days before reaching the verdict.
