Kamala Harris is expected to make a pitch to moderate voters tonight when she is interviewed for the first time since becoming the Democrat nominee.
The US vice-president is set to explain her change of heart over her previous Left-wing views – for which she has been dubbed ‘Comrade Kamala’ by Donald Trump, her rival for the White House.
In the interview, which airs on CNN at 9pm EST (2am UK time), Ms Harris calls for Democrats to “build consensus” on divisive issues such as immigration and green policy.
She also said she is prepared to appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if she wins on November 5.
The interview is being conducted jointly with Tim Walz, her running mate, leading to accusations from Republicans that she is “hiding behind” him.
