Jeremy Vine has praised a cycling vigilante attacked for confronting a driver who was using his phone on the road.

The TV personality rallied to support Michael Van Erp, known for his YouTube channel CyclingMikey, over a clip showing Mr Van Erp being berated by the enraged driver.

Footage recorded from a head camera worn by Mr Van Erp, 50, shows him cycling around a Ford Fiesta stuck in traffic behind a bus.

The driver is seen holding his phone apparently making a call as Mr Van Erp notes the driver’s number plate using the phonetic alphabet and reprimands him for using the device at the wheel.

Rolling down his window, the visibly irked driver asks Mr Van Erp: “What are you looking at me for?”

Mr Van Erp responds: “I’m filming you using your phone behind the wheel.”
