JD Vance will join his wife on a trip to Greenland on Friday saying he did not want his spouse to “have all that fun by herself”.
The vice-president announced plans to visit a US Space Force outpost on the north-west coast of the territory and suggested that global security was at stake.
“We’re going to check out how things are going there,” Mr Vance said in a video on Tuesday. “Speaking for President Trump, we want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland because we think it’s important to protecting the security of the entire world.”
He added: “There was so much excitement around Usha’s visit to Greenland this Friday that I decided that I didn’t want her to have all that fun by herself and so I’m gonna join her.”
