Jair Bolsonaro’s health has worsened, doctors have said.
The former Brazilian leader is currently in intensive care recovering from surgery to treat injuries sustained when he was stabbed on the campaign trail seven years ago.
The 70-year-old has “shown a clinical worsening, an increase in blood pressure and worsening of liver laboratory tests,” said a spokesperson for the DF Star hospital in Brasilia.
Mr Bolsonaro, who has been hospitalised since mid-April, will undergo further tests today, staff said.
He is currently being treated for intestinal adhesions, bands of scar-like tissue that form inside the abdomen and can cause a number of health problems.
