Israeli troops have advanced into Gaza City and are fighting Hamas terrorists near the al-Shifa hospital, it has been reported.
Read Adm. Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, said they were “deepening the pressure” on Gaza City.
He added that troops were hunting Hamas field level commanders to weaken the militants’ ability “to carry out counter attacks.”
According to The Times of Israel, Israeli troops are nearing the al-Shifa hospital, the largest hospital in the enclave which Israel says sits on top of Hamas’s main headquarters.
It comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel would take control of “overall security” of besieged Gaza after the war.
