Israeli air strikes killed at least 11 people and injured dozens more in the fourth such attack on Beirut in less than a week.

Emergency services in Lebanon were searching for survivors and warned that the death count could rise.

Saturday’s attack took place at 4am local time, reducing an eight-story building to rubble.

Diplomats remain in talks to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, with US envoy Amos Hochstein holding what he described as “very constructive talks” in Beirut earlier this week.

So far, however, a truce has not materialised and fighting continues to escalate between Israel and Hezbollah.
