Lord Cameron has arrived in Israel for talks with the country’s leaders in a show of support after Iran’s attack over the weekend.
The Foreign Secretary is expected to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, and other senior figures to discuss their response to the drone and missile barrage launched by Tehran on Saturday night.
The Government has called for restraint following the attack, with Lord Cameron urging Israel to be “smart as well as tough” by not escalating the conflict.
The UK joined allies in defending Israel when Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday.
Tehran said the attack was in retaliation of a presumed Israeli air strike on its consulate in which 13 people were killed.
Isaac Herzog, Israel’s president, thanked Lord Cameron for his visit, saying: “I appreciate our warm discussion together this morning in Jerusalem.” He added that Israel is “unequivocal” in its commitment to defending its people.
