The Houthis have vowed to take revenge for a second round of US and UK air strikes on the Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen, warning “every aggression” will be met with a response.
The US and British militaries bombed multiple targets in eight locations linked to the group on Monday night.
It marked the second time the two allies have conducted coordinated retaliatory strikes on the Houthis missile-launching capabilities after weeks of attacks by the Yemeni rebels on vessels in the Red Sea region.
Mohammed Ali-al Houthi, head of Yemen’s Houthi supreme revolutionary committee, warned that “every aggression against our country will not be without a response”.
“Expect a response every minute, if not every second, then every minute it must,” he said.
“To expect that there is a response coming and that it will inevitably be a loss and calamity for you.”
According to US Central Command, “missile systems and launchers, air defence systems, radars and deeply buried weapons storage facilities” were among the targets hit by the US-led strikes.
A joint US-UK operation carried out earlier this month saw RAF Typhoon jets combine with the US Navy and Air Force to bomb 70 sites used by the Iran-backed group to launch missile and drone attacks.
