Hamas has rejected a ceasefire, days after Joe Biden said one could be in place by Monday.
A spokesman said the group had not received “any new proposals” and an agreement was not close.
Ahmad Abdelhadi, another official, said the terror group still want a long term ceasefire and leaks of the negotiations are designed to put political pressure on them.
It comes after the US president said Israel and Hamas are “close” to a hostage deal in Gaza for a 40-day ceasefire to restore civilian life, and rebuilding bakeries and hospitals.
Mr Biden suggested a deal could be reached as early as next week and could be in place for Ramadan, which begins on March 10.
