Israel has likened Joe Biden’s threat to halt the shipment of weapons to Britain’s Munich Pact with Nazi Germany.
“Joe Biden can be [Winston] Churchill but he is choosing to be Chamberlain, he chooses dishonour and will get both dishonour and war,” Heritage Minister Amichay Eliyahu wrote on X.
Mr Eliyahu was quoting Sir Winston Churchill’s famous critique of former Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
Last night, the US president publicly threatened for the first time that he will stop supplying US weapons if Israel goes ahead with a planned ground invasion of Rafah.
Mr Biden explicitly conditioned the transfer of American weaponry on Israel’s military actions as he acknowledged that US bombs have been used to kill civilians in Gaza.
