A suspected terrorist killed 10 new year revellers and injured dozens more after ramming a pick-up truck into a crowd of partygoers in New Orleans.
The suspect, named as Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42 sped into the crowd on Bourbon Street in the heart of the city’s vibrant French Quarter in the early hours of Jan 1.
An Islamic State flag was found on his rented white Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck. The FBI does not believe he acted alone.
Improvised explosive devices were found in the vehicle and around the area on Wednesday. Two IEDs had been rendered safe, the FBI said.
After speeding down the busy one-way street, the vehicle crashed outside the four-star Royal Sonesta Hotel between Bienville and Conti Streets with such force the hood crumpled.
