As Air Force One took off from Las Vegas on Saturday night and the crew prepared the grilled chicken and spaghetti, reporters following Donald Trump’s first trip outside Washington, DC were handed a four-pager dossier.
“Historic Action to Kick-off America’s Golden Age,” it said under a gold paper clip to hold it all together.
Inside was a long list of Mr Trump’s achievements in his first 100 hours in office.
Mr Trump would soon appear for a round of interviews in the doorway of his cabin to cap an extraordinary first week returning to power.
As the dossier explained, the president had forced through “hundreds of executive actions” since his inauguration on Monday, having signed more than any other president on his first day.
Those close to him described a concerted effort to “flood the zone”, a sports idiom adopted by political operatives to describe overwhelming the media with announcements.
