Authorities on the Canary Islands have warned tourists to stay indoors as heavy flooding swept cars through the streets of popular Spanish holiday spots.
Video and pictures from the town of Telde, located on the eastern half of Gran Canaria and one of the worst hit areas, showed cars being swept out to sea by muddy floodwaters.
In footage from Radio Canaria, people were seen helping drivers get out of their cars as they struggled to trudge through the waters. The torrents were surging around fallen trees, and rocking cars back and forth through the streets.
