Chants of “death to the IDF” were heard at Glastonbury on Saturday ahead of the appearance of the pro-Palestinian Irish rappers Kneecap.
There was vocal support for the Palestinian cause from the festival crowd, with flags flown among the fans and in front of the main stage.
During his set, the rapper Bob Vylan shouted out: “Death to the IDF” – a reference to the Israel Defense Forces – and spoke of his support for Kneecap.
One estimate from an eyewitness suggested that, at one stage, half the thousands strong crowd were chanting “Death to the IDF”.
As Nilufer Yanya performed an earlier set, the words “Free Free Palestine” flashed up on the screen behind her and a pro-Palestinian banner was brought on stage.
