The eight-year-old girl killed when a Land Rover crashed through a school fence in Wimbledon on Thursday has been named by the Metropolitan Police as Selena Lau.
Her family released a short statement and a picture through the force.
The statement said: “Selena was an intelligent and cheeky girl adored and loved by everyone. The family wishes their privacy to be respected at this sad time.”
Another eight-year-old girl is in a life-threatening condition following the incident at the Study Preparatory School, police said. Her family are being supported by liaison officers.
A woman in her 40s, who is understood to be a parent of one of the pupils at the school, also remains in hospital in a critical condition.
A number of other people – including a seven-month-old baby girl – were also taken to hospital, where their conditions were described as not life-threatening.
The car ploughed through the school perimeter fence and hit a group of children, parents and staff who had gathered on the last day of term for a tea party.
