A five-year-old girl has died at the scene of the blaze in rural Pembrokeshire on Saturday night, police said.

Alysia Salisbury, described as “a beautiful daughter and sister” by her family, passed away following a house fire in the Pontyglasier area, near Crymych, on Saturday night.

The fire led to a large emergency services response, and Dyfed-Powys Police have said that the young girl’s relatives are being supported by specialist officers.

The force attended the property following reports of the blaze on Saturday evening, shortly before 10pm.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, The Welsh Ambulance Service and the Welsh Air Ambulance also attended.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, five-year-old Alysia Salisbury died at the scene.

Det Chief Insp Llyr Williams said: “Our thoughts are with the family and the local community at this tragic time.

“HM Coroner has been informed and officers will now work with colleagues from the fire service to establish the cause of the fire.

“The family request privacy at this difficult time”

The operation saw fire crews from Crymych, Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn, Whitland and Fishguard in attendance with specialist kit, including a turntable ladder from Haverfordwest, a water bowser from Milford Haven. A police drone was also used.

The Urban Search and Rescue Team also attended the scene.
