Jeremy Hunt has warned that Britain could become a “taxtopia” if Sir Keir Starmer wins the keys to No 10.
Speaking to The Sun, the Chancellor also said that a vote for Reform and Nigel Farage on July 4 would hand Labour “unchecked power”.
Labour’s manifesto includes £8.6bn in tax increases on non-doms, overseas property investors and private equity bosses.
And the Tories maintain that Labour has further plans to hike taxes after Sir Kier ruled out imposing capital gains tax on the sale of family homes.
They have challenged him to also rule out changes to council tax bands and rates.
Laura Trott, the Treasury chief secretary, said that if Labour refused to rule out the tax hikes “then they are planning to do it”.
A Labour spokesman insisted that the party are “not going to spend the next two weeks responding to whatever fantasy plans the Tories are making up”.
