Friday evening news briefing: The defining image of this election

Good evening. David here to take you through the day’s news.

Two-thirds of voters say Sunak leaving D-Day early was ‘unacceptable’

David Cameron, Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Joe Biden

A survey by YouGov found 65 per cent of British adults believe it was either “somewhat unacceptable” or “completely unacceptable” for the Prime Minister to have departed when he did.

Figures including Nigel Farage and the head of the Royal Navy have also criticised Sunak.

George Chesterton explains why Sunak’s disappearance has provided this election with its defining image, and Telegraph readers have given their verdict on the Prime Minister’s decision here.

CCTV shows last sighting of Michael Mosley

CCTV footage obtained by The Telegraph shows missing TV doctor Michael Mosley walking past a cafe 20 minutes after he left his wife at a beach on a Greek holiday island. The footage suggests he completed a walk to the nearby town of Pedi after leaving Agios Nikolaos beach.
