Good evening. The Tories claimed that Labour’s main economic policy was “in tatters” after Rachel Reeves scrapped the party’s flagship plan to spend £28 billion a year on green investment. We have the latest from Westminster, as Nadine Dorries quit as an MP.

Nadine Dorries, who is widely tipped to receive a peerage in Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list, has announced that she is standing down as a Tory MP with immediate effect.

It comes as Labour’s shadow chancellor said the party could no longer commit to its green investment figure from day one of a Labour government because of economic uncertainty and would instead look to “ramp up” investment every year with the aim of eventually hitting £28 billion.

Russian soldiers may have accidentally blown up the Kakhovka dam in a sabotage stunt gone wrong, according to intercepted transcripts. Ukraine has released an audio recording of what it says is a conversation between two Russian soldiers that proves Russia blew up the dam.

Two pupils are in hospital after being attacked in the early hours of Friday at a boarding school in Devon. Police were called at 1am to Blundell’s School in Tiverton, which charges fees of up to £40,000 a year.

Officers said that three people, including two pupils, had been assaulted. 

A 16-year-old boy from Tiverton has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
