Chris Christie called Vivek Ramaswamy “the most obnoxious blowhard in America” as the fourth Republican primary debate in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, heated up.

“I’m not done yet,” Mr Christie said to loud cheers as Mr Ramaswamy attempted to interrupt him.

“Now, look. This is the fourth debate and you would be voted in the first 20 minutes as the most obnoxious blowhard in America, so shut up.”

Ron DeSantis, whose poll ratings have flatlined since the start of the year, earlier said he was “sick” of hearing about his poll ratings.

“So we have a great idea in America that the voters actually make these decisions, not pundits or pollsters,” the Florida governor said. “I’m sick of hearing about these polls.”

Sparks also flew between Ms Haley and Mr Ramaswamy when he called her “corrupt”. Ms Haley hit back, saying Mr Ramaswamy was “jealous” of the number of donors she has picked up in recent weeks.
