The family of a murdered American hostage fear there is no guarantee they will get their son’s body back despite the Israel-Hamas agreement.
Ruby Chen, the father of Itay Chen, sounded a note of caution warning that the terms of the hostage release agreement remain vague.
“There’s nothing to celebrate yet,” said Mr Chen. “With us, the families of the fallen, it’s more anxiety because there’s not a list of how many of them are coming out and who.
“Hamas has not defined that, and you don’t know if you will be reunited with your loved one or not. For us, it’s still a waiting game.”
Chen, 19, was originally thought to have been kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 while serving on the Gaza border, but he was later declared dead by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
His body, along with the remains of multiple others, is believed to be held in Gaza by Hamas.
