Elon Musk has repeated his belief that only the far-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) can “save” the country in an interview with the party’s leader on X.

Mr Musk has vocalised his support for Ms Weidel’s Alternative for Germany party on the social media platform in recent weeks, posting “only AfD can save Germany”.

The Tesla billionaire repeated his comments on Thursday, adding that it was his “strong recommendation” to Germans to vote for the AfD. 

“Nothing outrageous being proposed...just common sense…Only AfD can save Germany. End of story,” he told Alice Weidel.

The livestream is being monitored by politicians in Brussels who will be watching for potential violations of EU law. 

Politicians are concerned the livestream will be pushed to X’s more than 100 million EU users, potentially giving an unfair campaign advantage to the AfD over its rivals.

It comes after senior politicians pushed back against Mr Musk’s increasing meddling in European politics.

Emmanuel Macron, the French president, on Monday accused the Tesla billionaire of “directly intervening” in elections around the world, including in Germany. Mr Scholz said: “You have to stay cool…Don’t feed the troll.”
