Britain’s economy grew at an even faster pace than first thought at the start of the year, official figures show, in a boost to Rishi Sunak’s election campaign.
Gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 0.7pc in the first three months of this year, higher than the 0.6pc initial estimate by the Office for National Statistics.
It means the economy bounced back even stronger than first expected from a recession at the end of 2023, when the economy contracted by 0.1pc in the third quarter and 0.3pc in the fourth quarter.
