The King will host Donald Trump at Windsor Castle during his state visit in September, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The US President and Melania Trump, his First Lady, have accepted a formal invitation from King Charles for the end of the summer.
The Palace has confirmed the dates of the trip as Sept 17 to 19.
Mr Trump’s state visit – the next after Emmanuel Macron, the French President, came to Britain last week – will coincide with the fourth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, on Sept 19.
Previous state visitors have paid tribute to the late Queen. Mr Macron laid a wreath on her tomb in St George’s Chapel, and Emperor Naruhito of Japan left flowers in June last year.
The visit comes as the Government seeks to reaffirm transatlantic ties with Mr Trump in the wake of his trade war.
