Cracker Barrel has cancelled renovations in all of its restaurants following backlash over the company’s new “modern” logo.
The American restaurant chain said it made the reversal after customers “shared their voices” about the makeover, which was part of a $700 million revamp of the brand.
Cracker Barrel had faced mixed reviews from customers about the new restaurant interiors, which swapped its Southern country store aesthetic for an open concept plan with modern decorations and brighter lighting.
Cracker Barrel came under fire over the redesign of its logo, which was branded “woke”.
The modernised logo, which was swiftly changed back following an intervention from Donald Trump, had removed iconic images of an elderly figure and the barrel.
The company became an unlikely flashpoint in America’s culture wars and sparked a social media firestorm, with the president saying the company should “go back to the old logo” and “admit a mistake”
Now the in-store remodelling has been shelved too.
