Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin is in custody, Donald Trump said.
The US president said with a “high degree of certainty” that police have arrested a suspect following the fatal shooting of the conservative activist, 31.
“I think we have him,” the US president said in an interview with Fox and Friends this morning.
Mr Trump said police would announce that they had a suspect in custody shortly, saying somebody “very close” to the suspect turned him in.
The president did not reveal who the person is, but said there would be updates later today.
It follows a two-day manhunt for Kirk’s killer who fatally shot him in the neck at a university event in Utah on Wednesday.
