The British government has imposed 100 fresh sanctions on Russia to pile pressure on Vladimir Putin. These will target ships carrying Russian oil, as well as companies and individuals supplying electronics, chemicals and explosives used to make Russian weapons.
The measures are in response to recent Russian aggression after “reckless Russian air strikes” hit Kyiv’s Cabinet of Ministers building and violated Nato airspace in Poland. Russia fired more than 800 missiles and drones in a single night.
The UK government said the latest action aimed to cut off funding and supplies that sustain Putin’s war effort, which has intensified with unprecedented missile and drone attacks.
