Katy Perry is to blast off into space on a star-studded all-female flight.
The six women will lift off around 09:30am EDT, and travel more than 60 miles above Earth into space and zero gravity on an 11-minute flight.
They will be travelling on the New Shepard rocket made by “space tourism” company Blue Origin, which is owned by the billionaire owner of Amazon Jeff Bezos.
The craft will rise vertically before the crew capsule detaches mid-flight, later falling back to the ground slowed by parachutes and a retro rocket.
The first all-woman space crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s historic solo flight in 1963, it is made up of Perry, the pop star, Sanchez, Mr Bezos’s fiance and former TV news host, journalist Gayle King, scientist Amanda Nguyen, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
